Heart Health

Some studies suggest that black tea consumption may be associated with a reduced risk of heart disease. Black tea contains flavonoids, which are a special compound that holds the key too many of black tea’s important health benefits.  Flavonoids can help prevent plaque buildup in the body’s arteries, which reduces stress on the heart. Black tea is used as the base for our Masala Chai, and in addition to cinnamon, another important ingredient in our products, they both assist with helping in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, ensuring the reduction of bad cholesterol within our blood.

Mental Alertness

Chai contains a moderate amount of caffeine to provide a boost of energy when you’re feeling lethargic, without the jitters or other negative side-effects that may come with the excess consumption of caffeine. Combined with the I-theanine present in black tea, the caffeine also helps to promote focus and alertness. Studies continue to suggest that cinnamon can enhance cognition and reduce cognitive impairment, and ginger helps to increase concentration and focus and increase energy. Using only organic ingredients in our products ensures a complete intake of the many beneficial properties on offer.

Anitoxidants

Chai is rich in antioxidants, which work to reduce free radicals in the body, helping to promote cellular health, prevent degenerative diseases, for example, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron disease, and spinal muscular atrophy, and certain forms of cancer. Black tea is also high in antioxidants, along with cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves, more healthy ingredients in our whole spice blend range.

Stress Reduction

With a calming effect on the body, chai can help with stress and the relief of anxiety. The spices used in our chai all contain a variety of anti-depressive properties. Cinnamon is warm and stimulating to clear the mind, calm your nerves and help the body to relax. Cloves are rich in antioxidants, strengthening oral health, and helping to reduce fatigue, mental exhaustion, anxiety, and stress. Ginger is used to balance hormones when we are stressed, reducing indigestion brought on by this stress, to calm and keep our bodies healthy and peaceful. Lastly our favourite spice, Turmeric, not only used for overall health and wellness, but a high-level anti-inflammatory to reduce inflammation in the brain, reducing mental symptoms such as anxiety.

Digestive health

Chai has a never-ending list of health benefits, including the support of improved digestion, and soothing issues with the stomach, such as gastrointestinal problems when they arise. Ginger is considered a powerful digestive aid, and consuming ginger can assist with the prevention of gastrointestinal problems and help the digestive system to function properly. Cardamom also has plenty of digestive benefits too!

Chai has always evoked a strong memory of community, sharing, cold rainy nights at festivals huddled together to keep warm. Laughing and forgetting about the worries of the world outside the Chai Tent.

My journey with Chati Chai began in 2016, against the backdrop of New Zealand's vibrant coffee culture. As a non-coffee drinking Australian, I found myself on a quest for a hand-crafted chai that would satisfy my palate. Disappointed by the overly sweet chai syrups dominating many cafes, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Thus, Chati Chai was born in August 2017.

What started as a personal quest soon blossomed into a small business, one that I am immensely proud to still manage and operate independently. Beyond just a morning ritual, chai became my medium for fostering connections and building relationships. Sharing a freshly brewed pot of chai with friends and family became a form of hospitality that brought me immense joy.

Venturing into markets and festivals, as well as engaging with our community on social media, has been a highlight of my Chati Chai journey. I've cherished the opportunity to not only share my love for chai but also to educate others about its health benefits and the art of brewing a perfect cup. Witnessing customers taste Chati Chai for the first time and seeing their faces light up with delight is truly rewarding.

Chai isn't just a beverage; it's a source of comfort, wellness, and joy for me. With its ability to improve digestion, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system, chai sets the tone for a day filled with peace and wellbeing.
