Chai on the run

If you love the great taste of chai, but need a warm cuppa on the run, this is the perfect recipe. Just follow the steps below and strain the chai into your favourite travel mug. You’ll stay warm all day while enjoying the delicious blend of warming spices and creamy milk.

Step one

Choose your jug and add one good tablespoon of Whole Spice Blend for a jug close to 600ml. For an 800ml jug add two good tablespoons.

Step two

Pour jug 2/3 of the way with freshly brewed hot water, that has just started steaming (not boiling). If you wish to add a sweetener, add to the hot water now and stir until dissolved. This makes a nice simple syrup with the chai and sweetener.

At this stage you could leave it to brew for a couple of minutes while you heat up some milk (any milk will do).

Step three

Add the hot milk and fill to the brim. Mix again until combined.

Step four

Strain into your favourite travel mug and Voila! You’ve just made yourself a delicious Chai on the Run!

Stove top brew

If time is on your side, and you love the indulgence of a good chai, then follow the steps below for a traditional brewed chai. One of life's pleasures to sip the comforting warmth of the tea, feeling the joy and wellbeing in the comforts of home. Bliss!

Step one.
Add water & chai to a chai pot or small saucepan

Add two cups of water to chosen pot, and bring to just below boiling (starting to steam), add two good tablespoons of Whole Spice Blend, stir and simmer for 1-2 minutes to allow the spices to release their aroma.

Step two.
Add sweetener to your liking, and bring to a boil

If using a sweetener, we recommend at this stage. to add one to two tablespoons of sweetener per cup to the boiling water. Stir, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This creates a nice chai syrup.

Step three.
Add milk, bring to a boil, strain & serve

Choose your preferred milk. Add two cups for a nice balanced chai. Bring to the boil, stirring to combine, ensuring to scrape the bottom of the pot to prevent sticking.  Remove from heat and strain into your fave cup.
